Meticulously beaded green Cameroon shield with cowrie center and edging.  Hand carved from one piece of wood by the Tikar tribe of Cameroon makes each shield unique.  The shields are adorned with a combination of glass beads, cowrie shells and manilla string.

Traditionally these shields were used as defensive weapons and also as decorative or ritual objects which in Cameroon symbolizes status and wealth.
