Hi! I’m Michelle the creator of XO Hanalei Jewelry. I was born and raised in the town of Hanalei, Kauai which is where our name comes from. XO Hanalei began when I was about 15 years old after I started making jewelry for myself as a hobby when I was fed up with overpriced jewelry that just didn't last. Eventually friends and acquaintances began commissioning me to make jewelry for them as well. At that point XO Hanalei was born. I went off to major in Studio art in Santa Barbara CA. My junior year I moved to Florence Italy for a semester to study jewelry design. I not only fell in love with the culture and jewelry designing but also my now husband. Many XO Hanalei pieces are inspired by my time in Italy and Europe as well as my hometown of Hanalei, Kauai. All of our jewelry at XO Hanalei is handcrafted and designed in Southern California using the highest quality materials possible. We pride ourselves in using all hypoallergenic and very durable materials that will last!
