 In 2009 Forai (Friends of Refugees and Immigrants) began reaching out to women in the St Louis refugee/immigrant community to give them hope. We invited them into a partnership with American volunteers to produce marketable handcrafts and create supplemental income for their families. Dignity, empowerment, community... these are the three things Forai seeks to support and foster among refugee women in the St. Louis area. This comes through skill-building, mentoring, fostering friendship and income generation. Forai, Inc., is a faith-based, Christian 501(c)3 organization partnering with local refugee and immigrant women to enable the realization of economic, educational, and social goals through training and peer support, and by expanding market opportunities for artisans.
