"I still like Halloween,” admits 53-year-old Eric Thompson-Bey who helped create this card. “But I gotta be honest, we’ve gone way too far with all the pumpkin spice stuff out there. Pumpkin spice bagels? Pumpkin spice hummus? There’s even pumpkin spice pizza. Now that’s criminal!” Eric, who has been homeless several times since 1997, currently has housing and is working hard to keep pumpkin spice products out of his apartment.
Eric receives 15% of the sales from this card. Second Story Cards also donates an additional 10% to the charity of the cardmaker's choice. Eric has chosen the Stone Soup Films for this card.

Second Story Cards is a boutique greeting card company that elevates the creative talents of women and men who have experienced homelessness. We believe that no one element in our lives, certainly not our housing status, defines us. And regardless of our circumstances, we have the ability to change our situation, to change the narrative wrongly being used to define us. We can write a second story.
Our business model is simple: create beautiful products and help our most needy neighbors. Our makers receive 15% of each sale. Additionally, we donate 10% to a nonprofit of their choice in an effort to give back to the organizations that have helped them overcome the challenges they've experienced.
We've grown a bit and enhanced our graphic design capabilities. Our production facility uses gorgeous, environmentally friendly paper on which to print our cards. And we've even started branching out to areas beyond Washington, DC. But at our core, we're still as committed as we were from day one about creating beautiful greeting cards and changing the lives of the women and men we work with.
