Whether you are chronicling a bold adventure, or quietly sketching at home, this journal will remind you of a city you love.  We hand select each hide from Seidel Tannery, etch the leather with a 1914 Southern Pacific map of San Francisco, California, stitch and finish it in our studio.

This journal is made of full-grain leather and closes securely with a solid brass Sam Browne closure.  It includes a lined Moleskine notebook which can be replaced again and again. It’s a long-lasting gift for the artist, writer, or adventurer in your life.

*As we make each item by hand with natural materials, there may be slight variations in your journal from the product that is pictured. Unless otherwise specified, all items are made to order. Please allow 1-2 weeks for shipping.*

6"x9", pictured in Light Brown.

Milwaukee, WI
Tactile Craftworks is a woman-owned and operated leather crafting company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Founded in 2014 by Sarah Heck and Anna Warren, we had been collaborating on hand-crafted projects since meeting in a theater prop shop in 2008. We knew we wanted to continue a shared aesthetic into a new project, and began by selling product at farmers markets and local fairs. Since making the transition to wholesale in 2016, we now partner with over 200 retailers nationwide, and continue to craft each piece by hand. Our work is most inspired by the idea of place, and our emotional responses to both home and travel. We take pride in our methods of using modern technologies to enhance our traditional skills. We value quality, heritage, history, and longevity; working to decrease the disposable and give story to the ordinary. We strive to make pieces that are durable to use, beautiful to look at, and satisfying to hold. We would love to have a conversation with you, please send us an email at and we'll be in touch soon.
