Hi there, I'm Lola, baker and founder of Chocolate and the Chip. Chocolate chip cookies have been a long-time passion of mine and I'm over the moon to get to share my cookies with so many people. 2020 was such a difficult year for so many and I'm grateful to get to bring comfort in this time of need.
We have my sweet tooth to thank for creating Chocolate and the Chip. I've been perfecting this recipe over the last eight years until it was finally ready for showtime. You'll find that they're soft and chewy, perfectly balancing sweet with just a little bit of savory. I wanted to create a cookie that stops you in your tracks to embrace every single bite and I believe these cookies do just that.
I finally took the plunge to start my business after a visit to Napoli where I saw so many vendors serving pizzas and other treats through tiny windows on the street. I saw smiles on faces of the people eating as well as the people making the food. When I got back, I wanted to capture that special feeling of knowing that the person who made my food has mastered the craft and loves what they're doing.
I got started as an Etsy store. Then, after a couple of months, I become the "bestseller" in the cookie category and my orders were insane! I also started selling locally in Los Angeles via Instagram and complimented that with pop-ups around town. As the pandemic has changed everyone's lives, it's been important for me to bring back those smiles and maybe even a feeling of nostalgia in a time of uncertainty.
After some very exciting accolades from folks like Eater, NBC, and The Daily Beast, I'm now baking in my own commercial kitchen in Inglewood, CA, and our little team is working around the clock to bring chewy cookies to the masses. A year later, I'm thrilled to be on Goldbelly alongside some of the biggest names in the industry and shipping cookies to happy customers around the world.
